Lakme Absolute Mattreal mousse Foundation Review, Photos and swatches

Lakme Absolute Mattreal foundation Review, Photos and Swatches

What the company claims?

This mousse to powder formula delivers a feather light finish giving you a smooth breathable skin while its weightless formulation hides pores, uneven skintone and fine lines to leave skin peachy soft all day long.
  •          Last upto 16 hours
  •     Feather light texture
  •     SPF 8

Comes in 3 shades
  •         Ivory fair (1)
  •     Golden medium (3)
  •         Beige Honey (5)
       Price - 550 bucks
Here comes the premium cosmetic line from Lakme. It is everything that we bloggers were cribbing for Lakme to achieve. Long lasting products, Innovative packaging ( who wants to see the lip colors and foundation in that same old boring maroon packaging ? )
When I first saw this range, the only thing that captivated my imagination was this foundation. Shiny color and innovative ball type packaging with 16 hours of wear. What was not to like ? I finally got my hands on it and Got the shade Golden medium which is light for my NC 42 skin tone.

The picture shows how beautifully it fits into the palm. Now on the performance
The consistency is air whipped. It blends with a bit difficulty , By that I mean thorough blending is required. It gives a beautiful matt finish but starts looking powdery if applied too much. I didn't find the coverage build able. If you try to build it, it starts looking cakey. It is a great daily wear foundation  since it even outs the skin , covers pore a bit and control oil for few hours. I think it will suit oily and combination skin more

Drawbacks - It makes skin look flakey if not applied after properly prepping skin. Moisturizer is must if you want the optimal finish from the foundation.
It doesn't last long. I see the effect till 4 hours before it starts fading :|

This is me wearing the foundation. see how it blurs out imperfection

Will I buy again ? No, I will use it till it lasts but it aint anything exceptional if you ignore the fancy packaging.

Ponds Pure white face wash review

Ponds Pure white Face wash with activated carbon

What Ponds say about their new facial foam ?
Ponds reveal its little black beauty secret with its new powerful Pure White facial foam ! It has the technology of activated carbon that attracts the deep seated "black" dirt caused by impurities, oil and make up to reveal a Pure white you.
It is the first of its kind to be formulated with activated carbon which works with "black attracts black" . Carbon , when heated or "activated" becomes 8x porous ; hence increasing its ability to detoxify and gently exfoliate dead skin cells while retaining the needed moisture.

With Ponds White Facial Foam you skin has never been this pure and white ! Thanks to the power of activated carbon.

Price - Rs 75 for 50 grams

I have been using this Face wash since last month and frankly , its the best I have tried till date . I have combination oily skin which is prone to acne . It comes in a sturdy and compact squeezy tube which looks quite sophisticated in my opinion .
Its a creamy greyish coloured  face wash which immediately lifts away the excess oil and the dust in one wash . My skin felt squeaky clean and fresh . A great face wash for oily skin and a boon for the people living in a city like mine , full of dirt, humidity and pollution.
Fairness claims - Scores Zilch. Nothing can make you fairer but it indeed has cleared up my skin , my skin looks brighter and clearer and LESS OILY too . YAY !! . I dont think it works miracles on existing pimples but prevents further breakouts .
Oily skinned ladies , Try it out . it wont disappoint you .
I normally use it before going to bed .

Wont recommend it for dry and mature skin . Works best for oily skin with occasional breakouts . People suffering from aggravated acne , Stick to the medicated / herbal face washes.

Good day :)

Beyu eye Base/Primer review

                                                    Beyu eye base review

What it claims ?
Get maximum perfection from your eyeshadow! Beyu eye base provides a foundation so your eye color can glide on smoothly and stay brilliant for hours. No creasing allowed ! Creamy texture, neutral in color, ideal for any skin type. Comes in practical tube for easy application.
Bisabolol and Vitamin E soothe and protect the delicate eye area

Price - Marketed by Elder in India . 475 INR for 7 mL
Best before 36 months from date of mfd date

What is eye base ?
Eye base considerable improves the durability and color intensity of powder eyeshadows for a long lasting effect

How does it look ?
A beige colored liquid with silver shimmer ( not the OTT one )

Pros

  • My e/s stays longer on my lids
  • Makes the eyeshadow vibrant , Even the sheer one looks more pigmented
  • The squeezy tube is very practical and hygienic
  • The price . Pretty affordable for an eye primer.
  • The beige color even out the lids a little , nothing drastic though
  • Not drying , I feel comfortable after application
  • I use it before applying any liner on my upperlid and my liners stays a LOT  longer than usual :).
Cons
  • The e/s doesn't last exceptionally long , the lasting power is above average(like 5-6 hours) , I would say.
  • People with very oily lids might loathe it .As it is a bit moisturising
  • Does NOT dry clear , You will have some shimmers peeking through mattes e/s
  • Do NOT confuse it with a color correcting primer , it merely brighten up your lid a little
  • Call me weird , But I sniffed it , smells like Jasmine oil aka Chameli ka tel :P ( this is not a CON , Bdw :D)

This is How it looks like                                                                                           Blended
                                                                                                                       Noticed the fine shimmers ?

TIPS
I like the fact that I can use it alone.
I sometimes use it instead of e/s , a quick swipe of eye base , colored liner , mascara and kajal .. I'm good to go.The little shimmer looks very pretty alone :)

Swatches without eye base (Top ) and with eye base (below)
This is a very much adored Maybelline eye palette in "chai latte) .. See , How the colors look vibrant in the lower swatches.

*I have clicked the pic in artificial lighting

VERDICT
It is a necessity in a Bride's trousseau/ working women/eye make up fanatic's life.A great addition for everyone but not a vital one.
Frankly , I can live without this product[ becz  I don't have to use e/s everyday] but as I said earlier , a good addition and makes life easier ;)
I definitely dig it when I go out .

So, have you tried it ??

If there was one product I have to recommend from The Body Shop. This is it.

Likes

  • Its PINK ! (Need I say more?)
  • Exfoliate like nobody's business, that too without being harsh.
  • My skin is in love with this.whenever I stop using this, my skin seems different
  • Bathing was never so much fun. With these in my arsenal, showering tempts me.Even in winters
  • My skin has improved ALOT after using this,Its so soooft ! Even my mum said this n she doesn't believe in giving compliments :P
  • Has a loop on the sideways,so storing is no hassle .I just attach that loop on a hook
  • Pretty economical
  • Very sturdy, it doesn't slip while foaming
  • One size fits all.Upon drying it regains its orignal size
  • They will last long
  • Can easily reach harder to reach places like back.
Dislikes
  • Why the hell can't I use it everyday ? Oh well, I do :P (Even though it states that it should only be used thrice a week ,but it haven't done any harm to my skin yet.I'm always gentle whilst using this)
  • None actually

Tips
  • Keep it away from Blue dyes.My maid accidentaly spilled "Ujala" over it.Since then,It hasn't regained its original color :(
  • Wash it weekly with some mild detergent.
How do I use ?
I just squirt some of my usual bodywash over it ,lather , pay attention to some rough areas like elbows, knees and feet and rinse. Hello Baby soft skin :)

It states it can also be used with some Body scrubs. Honestly, I haven't tried that. Too abrasive for me.
I'm happy with the current results :)

Will I repurchase ? Heck Yes !
I made couple of my friends get this and they are loving it :)

  • Stay on for a decent amount of time
  • The shade sheer Honey is perfect .

Cons
  • May not suit well for people seeking High coverage.Anyway its not a foundation.so it really won't be a con.
  • Dry skin fellas might loathe it. But my other Blogger friends with dry skin love it.
  • It is NOT a substitute for Sunblock
  • Not very long lasting.I have to set it with a powder and be ready for mid-day touchups

Skin Stays Flawless and Fresh All Day Long

Oil free powder keeps skin feeling fresh through the day

Silky Soft Texture
Ultra fine powder spreads easily and smoothly onto skin
Lightweight and mild, this powder is suitable for everyday use

Dermatologically tested . Allergy tested . Wont clog pores

Price-150 INR -Pretty cheap.eh !
It comes in 5 shades
  1. White Ivory
  2. Light Ivory
  3. Natarul
  4. Nude
  5. Fawn

PROS

  • Affordable
  • Medium coverage. Now I know why they call it a compact and not a powder.
  • Blends easily
  • Does brighten up my face
  • Has SPF 18
  • Oil free
  • Great for people who needs light coverage

CONS

  • The chalky white shade , It gives a pathetic white cast
  • Limited shade selection for people with darker skin
  • Vit C is unstable ,How did they manage to store it in 9 gms of powder ?(ha, my Chem textbook says so)
  • It is NOT an alternative to sunscreen, contrary to what Diana Penty claims in the advertisement.
  •  Not the best pal for oil control , I will prefer Maybelline dream matte powder over it anyday.

SWATCHES

As you can see , Dream matte is sheerer while UV compact gives more coverage.
Btw I have shade "NUDE" in UV compact and "honey beige" in dream matte mousse . "nude" gives me a brighter complexion while MDM is great for oil control.

TIPS

  • Use it with a Powder/Kabuki, puff picks up WAY too much of product.
  • You may use it after applying the sunblock to reduce the greasiness and provide you with some coverage
  • DONT confuse it with a SETTING powder , use it after foundation only if you fancy a high coverage . FOUNDATION+ Maybelline UV compact is too heavy for me . I prefer something lighter to set my TM/concealer with. Like maybelline Dream matte mousse/MAC prep+prime or Maybelline loose powder.

OVERALL
This is a great budget buy .I am on my second pan , I got this when I was a novice at make up and liked it a lot as a beginner . But as I ventured deep into the make up , I realised it is not the most smooth powder  .But when I am in a rush , I just use this with a Kabuki and I'm ready to go.
A thumbs up from me.You wont get a better deal at a price so LOW !!

Till then Take care !

Revlon Foundation review

         Revlon Colorstay Active Foundation Review

What it claims :- Tired of your makeup giving out before you do? Revlon has the solution – A light, sweatproof makeup that can keep up with you. ColorStay Active™ Light Makeup provides smooth, natural, light coverage that lasts up to 16 hours. SoftFlex™ formula provides a lightweight, comfortable feel. Makeup is sweat proof, sun proof, and rub-off proof*, even during exercise. Designed for all skin types. Oil-free. Non-pore-clogging. Non-irritating. SPF 25.

*Will not rub off with normal use

Price :- 595 INR for 30 mL

Pros:-
  • Lasts long enough ( 5-6 hours on me )
  • Covers blemishes quite well
  • Has SPF 25 ( Dont matter to me , coz to reap benefits you must apply 1 teaspoon and believe me , thats a hell lotta stuff !)
  • I would say its Rub, water and swear RESITANT
  • Matches my skin decently ( I have this is medium beige)
  • My skin does look flawless when I apply it.Great for evening out skin tone and covering slight blemishes.
  • Oily and combination skin fellas with fairly decent skin will like it
Cons :-
  • Very thick for my taste
  • Gives a cakey finish , Not the most user friendly foundation. You will need to do lot of blending to make it look like second skin
  • Dries pretty quickly and may prove difficult to blend
  • Limited shade range , unlike its big brother (Orignal Colorstay )
  • Not the best foundation for acne prone skin
  • Dry skin will find it terrible
  • Gives a white cast when used with fingers
  • Has tendency to cling on pimples . YUCK !
OVERVIEW :-
Its an OK-ish foundation . I do love the fact that it makes my skin look good but the cons outweight the pros :(  I have it since a year and to be very frank , I didnt like it when I was on my breakout spree . It did nothing to make my skin look good , in fact it accentuated the dryness , made my blemishes look grey and I had every reason on this earth to dislike the foundation. But few days back , prior to my review , I decided to give this one last chance and Voila ! It aint half as bad .
Would recommend to ladies with Oily - Normal combination skin who seeks medium coverage.

Application :- Moisturize your face well. There should not be any dry areas or the foundation will cling. Squeeze out the desire amount on the back of your hand .Now spray some rose water on your Blush brush ( I use Vega's) , Dip it in the foundation and use desired amount on your face , dabbing and swirling. This technique is very similar to airbrushing ( in layman's term , airbrushing is putting numerous tiny dots on a skin untill the you can't diffrentiate the foundation from skin )
This technique is also called stippling brush method. I stipple then buff with a big powder brush and then set it with a translucent powder.

The process is very tedious, I know. but for 595 INR , I was determined to make it work :D

Repurchase :- Hell NO . Cant devote 10 minutes on applying the foundation !!

Sorry , Not being very regular with the posts .But my life is haywire , busy with entrance and classes . Will be a good gurl and post more often after I secure my place in some good institute :P
Till then ,
Mwah ;)

Ponds Matte oil control concentrate review

This is for you Priyanka :)

Pond's Matte oil control concentrate

Pond’s Oil Control Concentrate has special ingredients like Elastomer, Polymer, Light ester and even powder.
These ingredients come together to form a network of micro traps that captures the oil. And hydrates again with non-greasy moisture.
The result? A shine-free complexion that looks matte and feels wonderfully light for longer.

In my quest to find a product to banish the unwanted shine on my T-zone .. I got this baby on Cynthia's recco and this works wonders for me .
Just to give you a background on my skin .
I have a fairly oily T-zone and I cant use the regular creams and moisturiser .I have to use calamine and Loreal anti imperfection moisturiser if I have to prevent oil burst out for couple of hours .With this on , I can survive 8-10 hours of beautiful semi-matte skin .

HOW TO APPLY THIS ?

DO NOT apply it like regular cream . It is oil control concentrate not cream.  I apply it wherever I am prone to oiliness i.e T-zone .You can use it before or after foundation , completely your choice. I apply it after   my TM (if em wearing one) , else after the moisturiser .  The nozzle tip allows just enough product to use . With the nozzle tip as a product dispenser , You wont have a chance of  wasting it :)

I use it as a substitute for eye primer too . This + little concealer helps the eye make up on me to last much longer . I even tried Rati's Primer remedy (Lotus sunscreen + concealer) and it worked fine too . Though with PMOCC , My eye make up retains longer .

I think its similar to MAC matte, Though I havent tried it . I also had my eyes on Vichy Normaderm pro matte, which is also similar , in my opinion.

Only drawback is the packaging. No, No I love the nozzle tip but the long tube size is rather consumer - unfriendly. You can't fit it in purse and storing it is such a pain .. it has no grip so you gotta store it horizontally   :(

Overall .I LOVE this product and would recommend it to combination + oily skinned ladies without apprehensions .The best part is that it is totally affordable at 250 INR (for 50 grams)comparable to MAC Matte (1000-1200) and Vichy  Normaderm Pro matte ( around 800-900 ) . I would say YES YES YES to it !

What I think ??

Well I think its a great moisturiser for your body buh I cant vouch for its claim for being "anti aging" and for 300 bucks ($6) what more can you ask for ?

Texture:- Perfect is the word . neither too liquidy not too creamy , very e
asy to spread . I didnt feel any greasiness , heck I didnt even felt I had anythin on .. just soft supple skin without any heaviness
Moisturizing properties:- My skin felt instantly supple and smooth . great to use after the sho
wer and in winters .
It even comes with a pump = less wastage and ppl with OCness will love it :)
It came in a HUGE bottle (661mL) ,, I really felt it was worth my money and I have been using it regularly for a month and going by its size I think it will last me a month and a half more !!

The thing I love the most about this product is that JERGENS maintained its price in India .. no load of custom taxes on our shoulder like some higher brands do ( MAC , em talkin to yu ![:x]) .. we pay as much as our American counterparts are paying so YAY !!

I will definitely recommend it . Its a BANG for yer buck !!
